Drone footage master Northcoast Drone has just uploaded another great video, this time with some spectacular footage of tugboats at work in Prince Rupert.
The video starts off with a fascinating behind-the-scenes glimpse of the tugboat captain’s perspective, showing him at the control panels from the bridge. Next the drones overhead capture how the two tugboats connect to the ship, a loaded pellet bulk carrier called African Weaver, and pull it out of the harbour.
In the description Northcoast Drone wrote, “Working close with the tug captains and the harbour pilot we were able to get up close and personal with the crew of the harbour tugs.”
Tugboat workers face notoriously dangerous conditions: in February 2021, two workers went overboard off the Tugboat Ingenika near Kitimat and died. Since these tragic deaths, there has been a campaign for safer working conditions for tugboaters and what has been called “the towage industry in crisis.”
