Exciting activities are lined up for a day of merriment as Prince Rupert will celebrate the Annual Children’s Festival on March 1.

The action will unfold at the Jim Ciccone Civic Centre from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The festival is hosted by the Prince Rupert Special Events Society (PRSES) and sponsored by the City of Prince Rupert and Trigon.

“Children can engage in physical game activities, listen quietly to storytelling, or use their imaginations by making creations from new and recycled materials,” said PRSES.

“Children are also able to enjoy the accomplishments of their peers, as they are entertained by their dancing, drumming, singing, or playing musical instruments,” the society added.

Attendees can also indulge in treats such as hot dogs, cotton candy, slushies, juices, popcorn and coffee.

More than 15 organizations will have booths featuring creative activities, games, and entertainment for youth to appreciate. They can also partake in yoga and fencing sessions, among other options.

Additionally, the society is offering a free swimming opportunity from 4 to 6 p.m. and free skating from 5:15 to 6:15 p.m. on that day.
