Watch This Dude Have ‘An Awesome Day’ Snorkeling Campbell River Salmon Run

It’s always ‘a high point of the year,’ says Islander Garrett Clement.

Depending on the species, salmon exhibit different swimming behaviors. For instance, some salmon, like sockeye, are known for their energetic and rapid swimming, while others, like chinook, might appear more leisurely in their movements. Photo Credit: Garrett Clement.

“This is that special time of year when the salmon run, and there’s only about a three-week season where you get to dive with them, so it’s always a highpoint point of the year, and I’m really looking forward to swimming with some big schools of fish.”

Garrett Clement has a slightly unusual hobby. The Vancouver Island local likes to snorkel in rivers with salmon.

“This is that special time of year when the salmon run, and there’s only about a three-week season where you get to dive with them, so it’s always a highpoint point of the year, and I’m really looking forward to swimming with some big schools of fish,” Clement says in a new video posted to his YouTube channel Uncharted Odyssey

In the video, Clement drives an hour and a half to Campbell River, where he meets up with Maxime Veilleux, who runs the channel Scuba Max.

“It should be a good group of people and an awesome day,” Clement says as he prepares to enter the water.

Judging from the cool footage they shoot while underwater with the salmon, it certainly seems like they had a rad time.

“That looks like so much fun,” says one commenter. We certainly agree.
